Aspercreme.

May 28, 2008 / by proudjayhawk

I have so much friggin aspercreme slathered on my body I feel like a nursing home.  I used to work at a residential facility for really bad kids and one of those kids tripped me once.  I fell knee first on the concrete floor.   All of my life, I thought people were crazy when they'd say things like "Oh...it's gunna rain..my shoulder's botherin' me...".  Oh no, if there is any moisture in the air..my knee is all sorts of torqued out.   And if that wasn't reminder enough that I'm getting old...I'm completely convinced that I'm getting arthritis in my knuckles.  I'm tellin ya...a walker with tennis balls on the feet is in my near future.

So for Memorial Day, I experienced one of the coolest things of my entire life.  The Hubby and I took all three of the kids to a free symphony concert/fireworks show at the war memorial in our city.  We had a picnic dinner of fried chicken, blankets laid out for the kids..it was really nice.  And the weather was  perfect.  Well, the symphony played the 1812 Overture..WITH LIVE CANNONS!!!  It was seriously one of the coolest things I've ever heard.  I'm such a sap though.  Patriotic music gets me everytime.  I tear up like a little school girl.  The Hubby was so good..he'd just quietly hand me a napkin..and squeeze my hand.

I love having chocolate chip cookie dough for breakfast.  Almost as much as Uh Oh Oreos.  And a cold Pepsi.  Breakfast of champions...

I believe that the first time the cannons went off was during the salute to the soldiers. I remeber this because the first tiem they fired it woke up our younges sleeping child, almost. The second tiem they fired it scared the holly shit out of him. After the cannons finished firing and two more songs went by we managed to calm the crying child. The 1812 overture began. I put the now calm child on my shoulders and faced the direction of the cannons to let him see the really cool army men cannons get fired off and to prove to him that the really loud noise was not infact the world coming to a complete and final end.

Come to think of it the boys and I walked right up too and looked at the very cannons that went off. At the time we thought they were just decorations. We didn't pay them a second thought and went off to look at a hummer, that is untill the world came to an end.

Baby, we need to talk about breakfast... I love you.
